From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in power within the city.
Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of heroes who will split off from the primary party to begin their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear mismatched, but the events of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
First, the team knows exactly where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.
Casimir then cleared his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each character has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- The adventurer has experience in the region and advises that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could help the team reach places they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter pledged a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The healer defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to the remote area in quest for the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Explorers and Schemers groups.
Viewers can expect finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on October 24.
